Abstract

ENGLISH This study aims to know the effect of using children song on students pronunciation ability. The approach of this research was quantitative research While the type of the research was pre-experimental research using one group pre test post-test design. The subject of this research was the fifth grade students of MI Islahul Annam Dasan Makmur with the total number of students was 20. students. This study consisted of pretest, posttest with two time treatments by using children sg. There were two variable in this research, children song as the independent variable while English pronunciation as the dependent variable. The instrument for collecting the data was a test and documentation Test was used to find out the data about students abilities on pronunciation while the documentation was used to obtain the data form of school profile, photo graph and others. After collected and calculated the data, the used of children song has significant effect on students' English pronunciation ability It can be seen from a the data that the researcher obtained in the mean score both at pretest (48.3) and the mean score of posttest (66.65) which showed a a good improvement from pretest to posttest. Moreover, the t-test used paired sample t-test in SPSS 16.0 for windows showed that the value of t-calculate table was 45,083> 1,729 with significance value less than (P=0.000< 0.05) which indicated that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. It can be calculated that the children song has a significant effect toward students English Pronunciation ability in the fifth grade student of MI Islahul Annam Dasan Makmur Aik Darek Btukliang inacademic year 2019/2020
