Abstract

INGGRIS This research was conducted to determine the biodiversity of phytoplankton that could potentially cause harmful algae blooms (HABs) in Gerupuk Bay District. Central Lombok. The sampling method uses purposive sampling method. The basis for determining the sample location in this study is the existence of floating net cages at 5 predetermined observation points. This research was conducted in December in week 1. And water sampling was carried out in the morning (08.0011.00 WITA). This research was conducted in two stages, namely the sampling stage in the field and the observation stage in the laboratory. The number found in 5 stations amounted to 6 classes namely Bacillariophyceae, Mediophyceae, Coscinodiscophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Dinophyceae, which were divided into 3 phyla namely Bacillariophyta, Cyanophyta, and Miozoa. Phytoplankton diversity level in Gerupuk Bay is classified as moderate. The level of evenness index (E) of phytoplankton indicates that the distribution of each phytoplankton taxon tends to be the same. The dominance index value (D) indicates that no phytoplankton species dominates.
